Interfaith Peace-Builders works in partnerships and coalitions as a matter of principle and strategy. Our commitment to movement building and coalition organizing means that our national partners play an important role in our work. We work with partners on co-sponsored delegations and on national programming in our Education and Advocacy Program. National Partners
- The Fellowship of Reconciliation
Founded in 1914, the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) works for peace, disarmament, and racial, gender, and economic justice. Growing out of its Middle East peace work stretching back to the 1970s, FOR established the Interfaith Peace-Builders program in 2000.FOR currently works for peace with justice with its Task Force on Latin America and the Caribbean, Nonviolent Youth Collective, Iran Initiative, and Creating a Culture of Peace. Interfaith Peace-Builders maintains a strong and mutually supportive relationship with FOR. From 2006-2009 we received partial funding from FOR, and we continue to represent FOR in Israel/Palestine.
- The American Friends Service Committee
The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) was founded in 1917 to provide young Quakers and other conscientious objectors an opportunity to serve those in need instead of fighting during World War I. AFSC works for peace in Israel and Palestine by promoting self-determination and equal rights for all. Active in Palestine since 1949, AFSC has co-sponsored several IFPB delegations since Fall 2006, linking IFPB’s experience and expertise in planning and preparing delegations with AFSC’s extensive education and outreach network and ties to Palestinian olive farmers.
- The National Peace Foundation
The National Peace Foundation (NPF), a 25 year-old Washington, D.C. based NGO, empowers grass-roots organizers with the resources, methods and tools they need to become citizen peace-builders, promote civic action, and deploy the solutions needed to build secure, healthy and peaceful socities. Through its partnerships, NPF provides opportunities to witness, first-hand, the realities of conflict and the creative models being used to pursue conflict resolution.
- The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation
The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation is a diverse coalition of over 200 member groups working for freedom from occupation and equal rights for all by challenging US policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Campaign is based on human rights and international law, providing a non-sectarian framework for everyone who supports its Call to Action. Its strategy is to inform, educate, and mobilize the public so as to change the US role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to support peace, justice, human rights, and international law. IFPB and the US Campaign have worked together on co-sponsored delegations as well as a variety of other programming including speaking and organizing tours and Grassroots Advocacy Trainings.
Local Partners
- The Resource Center for Nonviolence
Founded in 1976, the Resource Center for Nonviolence (RCNV)is one of the oldest local peace and justice centers in the United States. Located in Santa Cruz, California, RCNV is dedicated to promoting the principles of nonviolent social change and enhancing the quality of life and human dignity. The Center offers a wide-range of educational programs in the history, theory, methodology, and current practice of nonviolence as a force for personal and social change. RCNV regularly collaborates on IFPB delegations recruiting participants and sponsoring follow-up activities.
- The American Friends Service Committee Third World Coalition
The Third World Coalition (TWC) was founded in 1971 by AFSC People of Color staff and committee persons to address the vestiges of racism in AFSC policies, practices and program work and to serve as network and resource for People of Color within the organization and related groups. In 2008, IFPB and TWC co-sponsored a delegation of people-of-color to Israel/Palestine. Click here to read reports from this delegation.
- Friends of Tent of Nations North America
Founded by a group of IFPB delegation participants, Friends of Tent of Nations North America (FOTONNA) was established to create a living bridge to Tent of Nations and to support the work of the Nassar family to bring peace, dignity and sustainability to all the people of the region. Tent of Nations is a family-run organization based outside of Bethlehem in the West Bank. Since it's founding FOTONNA has worked closely with IFPB on various programming, including co-sponsoring speaking events for Daoud Nassar of Tent of Nations and recruiting for IFPB delegations.
- Global Majority
Global Majority promotes nonviolent conflict resolution education, mediation, and advocacy. Programs are divided into following categories: education and training, research and analysis, translations, advocacy, networking, and mediation and negotiation. IFPB has organized delegation programs to Israel/Palestine featuring Global Majority staff and constituents.
- Kirkridge Retreat and Study Center
Since 1942, Kirkridge Retreat and Study Center has been providing a place for rest and renewal to pilgrims along life’s journey. In 2009, IFPB is working to include a group from Kirkridge in our Olive Harvest delegation.
- Other Local Partners
Interfaith Peace-Builders works with a variety of other local partners on programming and outreach. For instance, several local churches have worked with us to include groups from their communities on IFPB delegations. In 2008, a group of students from Haverford College's Center for Peace and Global Citizenship joined a delegation. These opportunities are always available.
